College Activities for the months of August & September

1^st August 2019– Induction Programme for the Semester batch 2019-2021 and re-opening of the 3^rd Semester. Dr. C. Massar Principal of Lady Keane College was the chief guest.

16^th August 2019– Freshers’ Day in any college is an event which every student eagerly awaits from the time of admissions. The 16th of August 2019 was marked as a memorable day in the life of student-teachers (freshers) of 2019-2021 batch of College of Teacher Education (PGT) Shillong. The Freshers’ Day was held at the Main Classroom with the gracious presence of our very dear Principal, Dr.(Mrs) V. Kharmawphlang, the teachers, the non- teaching staff, the student-teachers of the 1st and 3rd Semesters. It was a day filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness.

21^st August 2019- A one day workshop on MOOC, SWAYAM and OER for Teacher Education was conducted in the college on the 21^st of August, 2019. It was organized by the Department of Education, Centre for Pre-Service Teacher, NEHU, Shillong, in collaboration with the College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong. The workshop was insightful as it enlightened the students with the platform of SWAYAM (Study Webs Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) which offered the numerous and various MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) courses, and a brief introduction to the OER (Open Educational Resources) available to us. The workshop was divided into three parts to cater to the three different topics.

23^rd August 2019– The College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong held a programme to felicitate the hard work and achievements of the outgoing batch of 2017-2019 on the 23^rd of August, 2019. It was a sentimental and poignant event punctuated with heart-warming reunions of the out-going student-teachers with their peers and teachers. The chief guest for the event was our honourable Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Meghalaya, Mr. PrestoneTynsong.

5^th September 2019-” It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge”. College of Teacher Education (PGT) Shillong, celebrated Teachers’ Day with great gusto and gaiety on 5th September,2019 in the Main Classroom. The MC for the day was Mr. Dalinus Nongbet, of the 3rd Semester,who was very calm and organised, in hosting the programme. The welcome speech was delivered by Miss P. Elmolin Kharkongor,of the 3rd Semester, who gave a brief background to Teachers’ Day and also acknowledged and recognised the hard work put in by teachers towards every child’s development. This was followed by a short skit from the 1st Semester student-teachers. The performance was a very entertaining one as it was filled with humour. The Principal, Dr.( Mrs.)V. Kharmawphlang, then delivered an insightful speech and also mentioned how the day is marked as a day of reflection upon one’s journey as a teacher.

9^th and 11^th September 2019– Commencement of a one month training programme on soft skills and English Language for the 1^st and 3^rd Semester respectively.

27^th September 2019– A one day workshop for the college teachers of the Education Department of the Colleges in and around Shillong was held in the College premises on the Topic ‘Universal Design for Learning for Promoting Inclusion’. Shri. C. Narohna, Director of Bethany Society was the Resource Person for the day.
